We were very sorry to hear of the recent death of Alan MacSimóin, who was a passionate, knowledgeable, extremely kind and thoughtful activist on the Irish left.
Alan was a stalwart of Irish anarchist and left activism, having been involved in the Official Republican Movement and a founding member of the Workers’ Solidarity Movement, as well as countless campaigns through the years.
Alan kindly donated several documents to the Irish Left Archive since its creation, for which we are grateful. He was also responsible for the Irish Anarchist History online document collection.
Our condolences to Mary and his family.
The Come Here to Me site has written an overview of Alan’s activism , which also links to several interviews, recordings and articles from him.
A 2011 interview with Alan conducted by the WSM is available on the WSM website .
In 2015, the Irish Republican & Marxist History Project recorded the video interview below in which he talks about his activism.
