The People Before Profit Alliance (PBPA) was established by the Socialist Workers’ Party in 2005. It is organised and contests elections on an all-island basis.
The Community and Workers’ Action Group, a small Dublin-based group associated with Joan Collins, joined in 2007.
It ran as part of the United Left Alliance (ULA) in the 2011 General Election, gaining two of the ULA’s five seats (though one TD, Joan Collins, later left the group in 2012).
In the 2016 General Election, its candidates ran as part of the Anti-Austerity Alliance - People Before Profit (AAA-PBP) electoral alliance. AAA-PBP won six seats, of which three were PBP.
