Sunningdale Agreement, 1973

Date: 9th December 1973

The Sunningdale Agreement in 1973 sought to establish a power-sharing executive in Northern Ireland and cross-border co-operation in Ireland. Unionist and Loyalist opposition led to the Ulster Workers Council Strike. The agreement collapsed in 1974.
